PC-PISCES
PC-PISCES is based on the design methodology for uncased railroad and highway crossings developed by the Gas Research Institute and embodied in the American Petroleum Institute RP-1102, Steel Pipelines Crossing Railroads and Highways.
PC-PISCES, the only Windows software for designing pipeline crossings at highways and railroads, is guaranteed to make your job easier with such features as:
- An intuitive, easy-to use interface
- Input fields with minimum, maximum, and default input parameters
- Creates tables for design checks, RP 1102 calculations and design factors
- Generates graphs for: wall thickness vs. depth; stress vs. depth; impact factor; earth load and live load design curves; longitudinal stress reduction factor; and double track factors
- Software is available for both Liquid Pipelines [PC-Pisces(L)] and Gas Pipelines [PC-Pisces(G)].
Software Applicability
The design methodology used in PC-Pisces is such that the pipelines having diameters of D=2 to 42 in. (51-1067mm) can be analyzed. The wall thickness to diameter ratios must be within the range of 0.01 to 0.08 with railroad crossing analyzed to depths of 6-14 feet (1.8 to 4.3 m) and highway crossings to depths of 3-10 feet (0.9-3.0 m). The loading condition for railroads is based on four (4) axles distributed to the track surface, as would develop from the trailing and leading axles sets from sequential cars. Highway loadings are based on both single- and tandem-axle truck loading configurations.
- PC-Pisces provides users with output tables for:
- Calculated and allowed stress
- RP 1102 calculations
- Design factors for 49CFR195, SEFF and girth & long weld
PC-Pisces includes graphing capabilities for:
- Wall Thickness
- Stress vs. Depth
- Long Stress Reduction
- Impact Factor
- Earth/Live Load
- Double Track Factors
