The Understanding Visual Testing Training is a three and a half hour training course.
Visual Testing (VT) is the oldest and most widely used Nondestructive test method. Subjects include the advantages and limitations of the method, illumination requirements, surface conditions, test specimen attributes to be evaluated, and the various discontinuities and conditions that may be encountered. Both direct and indirect (remote) visual techniques are thoroughly presented and demonstrated. The different visual tools, gages and other measuring devices in addition to the VT instruments are discussed and demonstrated.
A discussion of discontinuities vs. defects is offered as well as explanations regarding false indications, non-relevant indications and relevant indications. Examples and causes of inherent , processing and service discontinuities are included.
You may progress through the navigation free training concentrating on areas of most interest to you. Quizzes and a final exam are available but not mandatory.
